Music provided by Gil’s DJ Service and Gilbert Soto added sophistication to the event. Nathan Wheat’s superb barbecue chicken plate was as good as its reputation.

Judges for the contests were Gonzales County Judge David Bird, Dr. Carolyn Scott, Maria and Richard Boone, and Diane Campbell. They volunteered their time and expertise to fulfill a very difficult assignment.

Many thanks and much appreciation are extended to Clay Allen, Pam and Jim Wilson, the many families represented, and the dedicated workers who contributed untold efficiency throughout the day. Every participant was instrumental in providing memories for many years to come of this very special afternoon in Nixon’s history.
